CREA - Consiglio per la Ricerca in agricoltura e l'analisi dell'Economia Agraria
The Council for research in agriculture and the analysis of the agrarian economy (CREA) is a national research and experimentation institution with general scientific expertise in the agricultural, agro-industrial, fish and forest sectors and with istitutes distributed throughout the territory (DLvo 454 / 99). The CREA has legal personality under public law, placed under the supervision of the Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies and has scientific, statutory, organizational, administrative and financial autonomy.
CREA will participate in the project with the Forest and Wood Research Center (Resp. Andrea Cutini) that deals with sustainable forest management, protection and conservation of biodiversity, forest ecology, cultural techniques for the improvement of wood and non-wood production, to optimize multifunctionality and health and vitality of the forest. It deals with the recovery of marginal or degraded agro-forest areas, reforestation techniques, the development of sustainable management criteria and indicators. It studies genetic variability, the improvement of basic materials and takes care of the conservation of forest species collections.
It carries out research on the forest nursery supply chain. It studies the structure and functionality of the forest ecosystem, adaptation and the ability to mitigate forests to global changes.
Part of the activity will be carried out in collaboration with the CREA-Research Center for Politics and Bio-Economy, which has expertise in the field of cognitive and interpretative analysis of the short, medium and long-term economic and social dynamics related to the agro-food sector, forestry and of fisheries and sectoral policies adopted, assessing their effects, impacts and implementation methods.
